Christopher Mar Sze Wei

Christopher Mar is a Partner in Munhoe & Mar, focussing on Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice. Chris has also involved himself in the area of real estate.

Chris has a diverse dispute resolution practice in general civil and commercial litigation, with an emphasis on industrial relations, construction and commercial disputes. He has acted for corporate entities including SMIs / SMEs, Government-linked Companies (GLCs) as well as Multinational Corporations (MNCs) in various contentious disputes relating to his area of practice.

Chris has also handled arbitration proceedings on matters pertaining to construction, commercial and telecommunication disputes.

Chris is a mediator on the panel of the Malaysian Mediation Centre. He also advises and has acted for clients in mediation involving employment, matrimonial, construction and commercial disputes.

 

Of late, Chris has also been empanelled as an adjudicator with the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) pursuant to Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012 (CIPAA 2012).

Chris has also acted for financial institutions, property developers, landlords of office and shopping centres/buildings, management corporations of strata titled developments and other institutions in the property related matters/transactions including sale and purchase of residential, office, shopping and industrial properties for individuals and companies by private treaty and auction sales and financing of residential, commercial and industrial properties.

 

Chris read law at Northumbria University, Newcastle Upon Tyne, England and graduated in 2003 with LLB (Hons). After obtaining his Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP) the following year, Chris was admitted to practice in the High Court of Malaya in 2005. Prior to setting up Munhoe & Mar, Chris practiced law in Christopher Lee & Co., managing the dispute resolution department.
